Logan Roberson fifth in Brodnax Shaker No. 89 at Cherokee
Taking part in the Halloween special, Logan Roberson visited Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Tuesday to pilot the Brodnax Shaker Motorsports No. 89 Late Model for the Mid-East Super Late Models sanctioned contest.
With a third-place result in his heat race positioning him on the third row for the $7,500-to-win A-Main, Roberson jumped up one spot in the 40-lap affair to register a fifth-place finish. He chased Daulton Wilson, Donald McIntosh, Drake Troutman, and Gray Parton to the checkers.
For a pair of qualifying sessions to kick off the 17th annual World Finals, Roberson and team invaded The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) on Wednesday as the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series drew a stout field of 74 competitors. With the field divided in two, Logan followed up the 25th-fastest lap in his first attempt with the 18th-quickest time in his second trial session.
Starting on the fifth row of his heat race on Thursday, Logan moved forward two spots to finish seventh, relegating him into a B-Main. Taking the top-two, Roberson fell short with a sixth-place outing.
He was able to improve in Friday’s preliminary program but his night came to an early end after finish fifth in his consolation race.
The World of Outlaws World Finals drew to an early close for Roberson on Saturday after placing eighth in his heat. He was slated to start on the fifth row of B-Main for one last shot at the $25,000-to-win finale but he elected to scratch.
